Welcome to the 15th developer diary for March of the Eagles!
以下是3月雄鹰的第15篇开发日志
This developer diary will speak about the tutorial and the hints system.
这篇开发日志主要说明教程和提示系统
As you all know, it can be hard to start a new game without any prior knowledge as to how to play it.
众所周知,如果缺乏对如何来玩这款游戏的一些先前了解,上手一款新游戏是很困难的.
How are you supposed to use the keyboard, the mouse or a gamepad to win the game, if you don't even know what the winning conditions are?
如果连胜利要素都不清楚,我们是无法在游戏中获胜的,无论是用键盘,鼠标,还是手柄.
So we decided to try and make sure you can get all info you need through the tutorial, and by other means as well.
所以呢,我们决定尽力确保玩家能够从教程和我们能够提供的其他途径获取到在游戏中所需要的全部信息.
What is a good tutorial?
什么样的教程才算一个好教程呢?
How does a player learn to play a game?
玩家们又是如何了解游戏操作的呢?
Are there more than one type of learning?

We had a lot more answers to this problem than we actually managed to incorporate into the game.
对于这些问题,我们得到了比我们已经尝试着融合在游戏系统中的更多答案.
For March of the Eagles we did a lot of research, read articles online from Gamasutra and other websites and discussed this with people in the office.
在制作3月雄鹰期间,我们做了许多研究,在包括Gamasutra在内的许多网站上研读了文章,同时也做了大量的讨论.
Hopefully our experiences can be used for other games in the future.

Remember the hints we used in Crusader Kings II and Sengoku?
对P社在CK2和战国中的提示系统还有印象么?
Whenever you opened a menu or screen, for example the province view or the budget view, another window would pop up with information about what you were looking at.
无论玩家何时打开一个界面,比如省份或是预算界面,都会有一个提示窗口弹出来告诉你这个界面里都会有什么信息.
It was a bit obtrusive and sometimes irritating to have them constantly pop up.
这种随时随地都要弹窗口的设计有那么一点莽撞,甚至招人烦.
Yes, you could turn them off once you had read them, but they were a constant reminder that more Hints would show up when you tried something new.
没错,玩家的确可以读完这些提示后就把他们关掉,但是这也意味着玩家每想尝试一些游戏的新元素, 更多的提示窗口就会弹出.
Our solution to this was to add a small extra button for every view we thought needed a Hint.
我们对于这个问题的解决办法是,在那些我们认为需要提示的界面上额外增加一些小的按钮
It resembles a Question Mark and if pressed, a hint window pops up with information about that particular view.
这个按钮类似于一个小问号,点击之后就会弹出关于所在界面的信息提示.
We would recommend all that have played one or more of our previous games to take a look at these hints in order to understand March of the Eagles better.

ADVANCED HINTS
高级提示
We have many more Advanced Hints than just Hints, over 200 placed all over the game's interface.
除了提示以外,在游戏界面有超过200个高级提示
They resemble an Exc**tion mark and will, if pressed, yield more information about the various concepts we have in the game, such as attrition, frontage, leaders, the various map modes, the ledger et cetera.
这些提示类似于感叹号,点击之后就会显示关于一些游戏概念的解释,比如损耗,驻扎地(?),将领,不同的地图类别和账目等等
We wanted the player to have more than a basic understanding of March of the Eagles, to know how different concepts connects with other concepts.
我们希望玩家们对3月雄鹰能够有较为深入的了解,能够理解不同游戏概念之间的联系
For example, if you do not have enough supplies for your army in a province, attrition will hit them hard, diminishing your army and its strength.
例如,如果在某一个省份上的军队没有足够的补给,这支部队会受到很大的损耗,会减员并减少战斗力
The Advanced Hints system will explain the concepts and their connections more thoroughly than the regular Hints do.
高级提示系统会比普通的提示系统更全面的解释游戏概念和它们之间的联系
Both the Hints and the Advanced Hints can be disabled by opening the in-game menu, choosing Game Options, choosing Game, then check/uncheck "Show Hints" for the Question Marks or check/uncheck "Show Advanced Hints" for the Exc**tion marks.
提示和高级提示都可以在游戏菜单中关闭,在选项选game,然后开/关”显示提示”可以开关问号按钮,开/关”显示高级提示”可以开关叹号

Think of the basic Hints as what you need to get started on the game – these are the steps and tasks and goals and the like.
提示系统将帮助玩家了解如何一步步开始游戏,开展一项具体工作,完成一项具体目标.
Advanced Hints are for understanding the systems in more detail, how everything connects at a deeper level.
高级提示系统将帮助玩家了解游戏系统的细节,更深入的了解游戏概念之间的联系
Players of all experience levels should check them out and see what they are missing or how March of the Eagles differs from our other games.
无论有多少游戏经验,玩家都应该检视这些提示,看看哪些是自己在游戏中忽略的,哪些是3月雄鹰与p社其他游戏不同的
But the idea is to not overwhelm new players with more than they need to know at once.

TUTORIAL

The Tutorial focuses on the basic mechanics of our games, how to move armies from one province to another, how to zoom in and out, navigating the map, explaining various diplomatic actions and teaching the player how to play the game.
教程主要涉及游戏的结构,比如如何移动部队,如何调整视角,如何定位地图,解释各类外交选项之类的知道玩家如何操作游戏.
There are six different parts of the tutorial, a total of ten chapters, each focusing on different game concepts.
教程一共有6部分,总计10章节,每一章节针对游戏概念的一部分
Introduction contains Chapter 1, with a focus on tooltips and controlling time, and Chapter 2, controlling the camera and navigating the map of March of the Eagles.
Ch1是介绍部分,介绍图标和时间控制
Ch2介绍在3月雄鹰里如何调整视角和在地图上定位
Command contains Chapter 3, with a focus on the army and the fleet, on how to control them and issue movement commands, load armies onto ships and engage other armies in battle.
Ch3是命令部分,介绍如何控制海陆军,如何使用移动命令,如何让陆上单位登船以及如何在战斗中攻击其他单位
Recruit contains Chapter 4, with a focus on constructing buildings in provinces, and Chapter 5, with a focus on recruitment of new armies through the province view and the Military view.

Control contains Chapter 6, with a focus on economy, the Budget view and Ideas, and Chapter 7, with a focus on diplomacy, building coalitions and taking diplomatic actions.

Victory contains Chapter 8, with a focus on the Overview and the Victory Conditions view, explaining the game objectives, including which provinces should be conquered to gain Land or Naval Dominance.and Chapter 9, with focus on such diplomatic actions as War Subsidies and Expeditionary Forces.

War contains the last chapter, Chapter 10, where you take what you have learned to fight against the Netherlands to gain control over its provinces and force a peace deal upon them.

Our intention with the Hints, the Advanced Hints and the Tutorial was to make any player, no matter how much experience s/he has with playing games, able to play the game and perhaps play it well.

It is always challenging to make a simple learning system for games as complex as ours and we haven’t hit perfection yet, but we are satisfied with the result here and we’re confident that the next game will be even better with the knowledge we have gained from making March of the Eagles and the focus testing we have done on the game and the tutorial.
为一款很复杂的游戏设计尽可能的简单的教程系统是一件富有挑战的工作,而p社也从来没做好过(误)但是我们对3月雄鹰感到很满意,对游戏和教程系统的测试也很有信心.同时因为在制作3月雄鹰期间积累了大量经验,我们也对下一款作品会将更加完善非常有信心
