I have decided to call this MapMap version 1.3.
(建议本页面中的补丁安装在原版1.3上)

Download and extract the files into your main HOI3 folder, this will place into your mod folder a Mod file and a folder called MapMap1.3. It will also place a folder called, (Retextured1.3) map into your main HOI3 folder.
At present there is no way to use map modifications within the mod folder so you must replace the vanilla map folder files including the cache so the next step is to and this is very important..........
BACKUP YOUR VANILLA 1.3 MAP FOLDER !
Backup your original map folder by simply renaming it (for example vanilla1.3 map) then rename my (Retextured1.3) map folder to map.
When you start the launcher you can now choose MapMap1.3 however if you choose default my re-textured map will still be used. If you are not happy you can change this by simply renaming the map folders again and choosing default in the launcher.
Note 29-11-09: If people only want to use the map make sure that you also replace the vanilla gfx\FX\ terrain_2_0.fx and the water.fx with my modified ones. Make a backup first of course.
Note 22-01-10 Important: I have noticed that some people only use the terrain folder from my mod so that they can play with other mods. I will stress again that if you do this it is important that you also replace the vanilla terrain_2_0.fx and water.fx files with my modified ones.
Remember all saves must be placed in the mods save folder.

Extract the file into your main HOI3 folder this will place a (new) loadingscreens folder into your vanilla gfx folder you can then backup the vanilla by renaming it to vanilla1.3loadingscreens and rename mine to loadingscreens.
Description: An attempt to make the different terrain types more apparent and to create a more map like feel for the game.
Change list.
1\ A new and more detailed colormap.dds to work with the new texturesheets and other files from the terrain folder.
Includes 6 other terrainsheets that you can rename for your own style, see alternative texturesheets folder with new map files. The default files are with a grid but you can change the name of the other appropriately named files to texturesheet.tga and texturesheet2.tga and choose the style you want. Remember to backup the two you change.
2\ New province.bmp and river.bmp which attempts to fix most of the minor graphical problems with the vanilla map this means a new cache folder is included.
3\ New terrain_2_0.fx to lessen the darkness of the FOW (does not remove the FOW), helps to create a more uniformed appearance for the map and also to allow the colours for the different map types to stand out.
4\ New water.fx to allow the sea colour to show more clearly and again a slight lessening of the FOW.
5\ Other minor graphical changes such as a new counter background simplified and with slight shading all are within the mod folder so can easily be replaced by the vanilla files if you wish.
Issues: There should be no real problems, in fact structurally it should be a better version of the vanilla map but just to be safe make sure you have your backups.
Changes will have no impact on the game play.
NOTE REGARDING THE MAP FILES: Only the files within the map\terrain folder could be used with other mods that change the structure of the map and even here there could be some inconsistencies with the textures.
NOTE REGARDING THE . GFX FILES: The interface\.gfx files within the mod folder cannot be replaced as these are the paths for some of the modified graphics. If you wish to add a new graphic from another mod you may need to update some of these yourself. Generally anything to to do with mapitems and the gfx\interface needs a .gfx file in the mod folder.
Important Note: People who have decided to replace the vanilla graphic files with my modified files directly in the default folders can ignore all of my modified interface\.gfx files.
The modified interface\.gfx files are only used to tell the game that modified graphics are in the mod folder, if they are not do not use them.

Change to technology screen to create the effect that the tabs are panel switches that light up.

Instructions: For those with MapMap1.3 just extract into your main HOI3 folder.
For others extract the folder called mod to your desktop and after you first backup the vanilla files you can replace them with the modified files. Important ! do not replace the vanilla interface\ counter.gfx
Description: Increased the size of mapcounters to allow for more detail but only for those that can be represented by an object such as ships and planes see screen shot below. Does not affect the size of the counter only the graphic.
Issues: It does not seem possible to increase the size of the other counters and get the same level of detail so these modified counters will only appear on the map and will therefore look different to the production screen, combat screen and unit menu.
Also you really need to set your counters to max otherwise they will switch to the vanilla counters as you zoom out, you can still however play around with the counter settings.
May slow down game but since I play on slow anyhow I have noticed no real impact, anyhow try them out may inspire people to try a similar style.

Map relief effect to colormap_political.dds map for MapMap1.3

Instructions: Download and extract file to desktop this will create a folder called Reliefmap effect that contains a new colormap_political.dds and map_overlay_tile.dds.
After first backing up the old ones you can replace them with the new ones and see how it looks. The files are found in your map\terrain folder.
Description: A graphic effect made by manipulating a world relief map to fit the HOI3 colormap_political.dds map, allowing for some compromises it works pretty well but consider it only a graphic enhancement it has no game play impact.
Issues: None but Note that it does not work with the vanilla files as the map is resized for the MapMap 1.3.

Instructions: Extract into your main HoI3 folder and this will add the relevant files to MapMap1.3 that is within your mod folder.
Note: If you wish to replace the vanilla files themselves do not replace the vanilla combat.gfx and unitpanel.gfx files with mine as these have been modified to find the graphic files within the mod folder.
